LRMC Announces Approval of Cardiac Cath Lab

Logan Regional Medical Center announced recently that the state has approved the hospital's request to construct a $3.6 million cardiac catheterization laboratory.

The lab will be located on the main floor of the hospital. Construction, set to begin in the near future, is expected to be finished next year.

The lab will be a dual-use interventional imaging and catheterization facility, which includes equipment for detailed, real-time images during procedures that require exacting precision.

With the equipment in the lab, physicians will be able to diagnose disorders - including peripheral vascular, cardiovascular and neurological diseases, and other conditions - without major surgery.

"This equipment will allow patients to remain closer to home for sophisticated testing," said Kevin Fowler, Chief Executive Officer at LRMC. Fowler further explained, "Our volumes continue to grow and this is a much needed expansion of our services. It marks a major step forward in the hospital's goal of developing local access to advanced medical services."
